Two international experts will address the half day seminar, which will have as its main focus the relevance of higher education to employability in the context of a changing and challenging labour market. Cooperation between higher education institutions and employers is of the utmost importance in order to achieve higher employment rates, particularly amongst graduate students. This collaboration is further needed to identify curricula based on a learning outcomes approach which will enable students to move within the labour market.

With this in mind, the aim of the seminar is therefore to explore how employability can be improved in the light of the three cycle system; the Malta Qualifications Framework and the fields of study mostly relevant to Malta’s socio-economic development, especially in view of the current global economic situation. An emphasis will also be drawn on higher education institutions and employers’ role to provide ample career guidance and equip students adequately by increasing the number of work placements and work-based learning opportunities. The seminar will focus on the relevant key objectives outlined in the Leuvenand Louvain-la-Neuve Communiqué.
